What The BLU Cable Does
The Bootloader Unlock Harness — BLU — is the hardware that unlocks the 401 bootloader on 2022+ Volkswagen and Audi vehicles equipped with the DQ381 G2 transmission. Without it, the TCU is locked at the factory and can't be flashed via OBD. With it, you've got a one-time path to full TCU tuning access.
What You Need For Your TCU Tune
The BLU Harness unlocks your 2022+ TCU. You can then use EQT SMD to flash it via the 034SPI app. All three available through EQT.

Why You Need It (2022+ GTI/Golf R/S3 Only)
Volkswagen and Audi locked TCU flashing on 2022+ MQBe platforms behind a bootloader protection known as the 401 bootloader. Standard OBD flashing won't work until that protection is unlocked. The Boot Loader Unlock (BLU) Harness is the cleanest path through it — no shipping your TCU out for bench unlock, no swapping mechatronic units, no shop labor. You do the unlock at home, in about the time it takes to flash a tune, and then move on with your build. Pre-2022 vehicles don't have this protection and don't need the BLU.

Yes. The BLU works with the EQT SMD and the 034SPI app to unlock your TCU for OBD flashing. Once the one-time unlock is complete, every future TCU flash happens through the 034SPI app.
The TCU tune flashes directly through the SMD Dongle and the 034SPI app.
Stage 1: Pair with a Stage 1 or Stage 2 ECU tune. Raises torque limits and clutch pressures so the trans handles your tuned power cleanly.
